Google announces Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and begins to reach the Nexus 7

We have already seen several leaks and other devices that Google was cooking something. Well, this is Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), and has been officially announced by the chief engineer Jean-Baptiste Queru.

This particular version, we've already seen fleetingly appear in some logs or devices called Nexus, Android 4.1.1 directly follows (Jelly Bean), cataloged as a minor update. This is the build number JZO54K, and we can find it in the Android Open Source Project under the name android-4.1.2_r1 and with a size of 31.3MB.

It is still unclear what changes brings this new version of Android, but will update as soon as information becomes available. Queru's words were as follows:

"We are publishing today Android 4.1.2, a minor update to the main 4.1.1.

Note to Nexus holders 7: please actualizad to 4.1.2 at the first opportunity. Future versions of the hardware will have a minor change in one component (the chip energy manager) will not be compatible with 4.1.1.

The build number is JZO54K, and the name is android-4.1.2_r1.

    Conley and JBQ "

As it explains Queru, the update has already been released to the AOSP servers, so you are already starting to update the first Nexus 7 to this version of Android. Be patient as this update can be staggered and no major changes. Sorry, still not Key Lime Pie or anything like that.

As has become usual, the update is labeled as improved performance, stability and resolution of bugs. It is expected to arrive soon also to devices like the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S or the Motorola Xoom.

With this update we have ultimately landscape mode available on the Nexus 7. While it was possible from different launchers, you can now enable this mode natively, which certainly is good news for many users. This mode would be disabled for phones, being only accessible from the tablets.
