What to do when the site is optimized for search engines: Tracking

That's it. We spent days examining and changing the structure of our little website, reviewing metatags, eliminating duplicate content, changing names and redirecting old pages to new, optimizing images, reviewing texts and creating new content.
We are exhausted, but happy because from now on the number of visits and therefore potential customers begin to rise, if not immediately, then certainly in the medium term.
Can we finally relax and forget the web at least until next year? We can, yes, but not advisable. Should not jettison such a good and expensive work by some final details, so encouragement and for a final effort.
What should we do now?1. Load us patience
Many times after making big changes to a website the results are felt immediately. Moreover, it is possible that even at first positions in the search engine results down a bit, so it is important to know what to expect and prepare emotionally.2. Making sure we have not broken anything
No matter how careful we have been, it may have been some loose, perhaps a result of fatigue that night that we were so late or a little uncoordinated during work. A visual overview and check that there are no broken links is essential to take no unpleasant surprises.3. Check that we will understand with robots
Check the robots.txt file to make sure that does not require changes if a new directory structure should not take too long.
Once done, we should update the sitemap.xml file (or the equivalent in your web) to reflect the changes and new pages created.4. Notify seekers
A visit to the webmaster tools for each of the major search engines will allow us to notify you that a new sitemap and therefore the site will be indexed with new content, addresses, etc.
Although some browsers will automatically visit (either because they come naturally to your site or because they are often scheduled to visit the sitemap) is simply a security measure especially for those sites that are not heavily linked from other sites and therefore are not visited by robots so often. Especially if you have not updated their website with new content, this extra measure is not over.5. Observe the analyticsEnter your web analytics interface and check the current data for a baseline, the only way to compare. If your application is possible because it allows, insert notes or marks in points where he began to make changes and where finished, and when the new maps sent to search engines. This way you will always know what information was starting.
Remember that having a web analytics application does not guarantee that you will do right track. Learn what the yield or performance indicators suitable for your website and establish a program for web analysis. Do not see every day to see if you have had more visits, the only thing that's increased frustration.
Note that the number of visits by itself is not worth much. If the rate of rebound (or bounce rate) is high, the more hits will be more disappointed visitors. Get capture the interest of visitors with attractive and unique content.
If desired, you can also control its positioning in the major search engines, and see if it will evolve over time. But keep in mind that knowing you have a page at a 5 on Google for your favorite keyword is only a fact. The reality is in their statistics and their conversions. It certainly is more likely that visitors will find if you are on the first page of the search engine, but it does not matter if it is set to 1 or 10, if the results of some are more attractive than yours, users probably will not click on your link.6. Update content
We will not rest on our laurels. It was hard to get here and our visitors, who are increasingly going to be more, they expect to find quality content each time you return. And new content.
So be alert to the emergence of new information in the field of your business. Have you included in the distribution list for press releases to be aware of new products, awards, success stories with clients, etc.. Do not just copy these press releases and pulls, to the web, give them around and make them juicier SEO.
Develop a policy for inclusion of new content. Identify people in your company who can provide information and involúcrelas in the success of the web. Do not forget to send occasional information on how many people visited the content made available to it and how this figure has resulted in sales of new contacts or prospects. Encourage them!
Set a timetable for publication and timeless content available to cover the gaps. Find industry news, new technology, its market reports ... Do not say that we are not giving ideas!7. Search links from other websites
You are missing the rest in updating its website and has been sweet. New content from time to time and ready. Now, to work 'out' of the web.
The search for other sites that might be interested in linking with ours is a slow and tedious. More frustrating is even trying to get the desired link: contact the right person who is interested in making content, finally getting put to work and include the link promised, and also to do with the link text we want ... buffff.
There is only one way to facilitate this task: taking the best content, you want to link all the more useful to visitors from other sites. If your content increases the value of the site you want to link you, your manager will be more willing to cooperate.8. Keep Contacts
Note the attitude and all possible data from the publishers of other websites that have linked to yours, do the same for those who have not linked. This information will be very useful when you have new content you want to share. Know who is more responsive and able to move forward faster starting work employees more open.
Remember that these contacts, most likely related to your sector, can also provide new content for your website. If your partner has a blog about news in your industry, you can agree with him occasionally publish a summary of an article or comment and link in turn to the blog. The favor is mutual.9. Working continuously
As evidenced by the above, search engine optimization (and human visitors) is a task that never ends.
Continued work will help us maintain focus, to find possible errors that we have overlooked, to have a code always spotless and in line with the latest standards, to maintain beneficial relationships with managers of other websites and develop an instinct hunting for interesting new content, new opportunities and improve the usability of the site.10. What if you change the algorithm?
All search engines have a habit (of course!) To update their search algorithms occasionally. Many website owners and SEO experts have a habit of shaking us out when Google announces its next update. "What will become of my website!? Again making changes like crazy! My God, how this will end! Now you could be very still, Google with my soul. "
Well, well, no big deal. If everything was done right, no need to worry. Your website will be well positioned if is among the best, period. But never an end.
